When Wine, Ham And Flamenco Come Together At Bodegas Emilio Moro, They Shine

Bodegas Emilio Moro brings together more than 100 people at the event ‘Awaken your Senses’.

  • More than 100 guests gathered at Bodegas Emilio Moro to awaken their senses to the rhythm of flamenco, ham and wine.
  • The president of the winery, Javier Moro, was the master of ceremonies and led the tasting of three wines: La Revelía, La Felisa and Malleolus

This Saturday, in the unique setting of its vineyard, Bodegas Emilio Moro, one of the most important wineries in Ribera del Duero, celebrated the event ‘Awaken your Senses’ to bid farewell to the grape harvest, bringing together journalists, personalities from the world of gastronomy, artists, distributors, friends and family to enjoy a day in which ham, wine and flamenco were the stars of the show.

The president of the winery, Javier Moro, was the master of ceremonies and conducted the tasting, accompanied by Florencio Sanchidrián, World Ambassador of Ham, who delighted the audience with his wonderful ham slicing; and Alonso Rancapino Chico, who enthralled everyone with his flamenco singing.

A great event in which the guests were welcomed by the Moro family and tasted three iconic wines: La Revelía, La Felisa and Malleolus.

La Revelía is the most special Godello white wine produced by Bodegas Emilio Moro in El Bierzo. A wine that, in the words of Javier Moro, ‘is the maximum expression of what we understand as the varietal character of Godello’. The attendees received a welcome glass of this very special white wine after awakening their taste and hearing with the cutting of ham by Florencio Sanchidrián, which is always accompanied by a poetic speech that no one can deliver like him; and a song by Alonso Rancapino Chico that captivated everyone.

The second wine that the guests tasted was La Felisa, an organic and vegan wine, named after Felisa Espinosa, the mother of the third generation, as a tribute to her dedication and passion for her family. A woman who has been and remains the backbone of the Moro family and who wouldn’t have missed this event for anything. Felisa Espinosa, or ‘La Feli’, as she is affectionately known, made an appearance to everyone’s surprise and said a few words, with her characteristic and endearing self-confidence, drawing smiles and applause from those present.

To finish the tasting, the attendees sampled Malleolus, one of Bodegas Emilio Moro’s best-known wines. ‘Malleolus was a turning point in the history of our winery,’ said Javier Moro. A historic wine with personality that has an intense, ripe aroma and a long, silky finish. Perfect for any evening.

Faithful to its commitment to the social sphere, Bodegas Emilio Moro gave the attendees bracelets, with a bunch of grapes as an ornament, made by ‘Babies Uganda’, a non-profit association in which volunteers work to help orphaned and abandoned children and whose proceeds are used to help them.

‘Awaken your Senses’, the event that Bodegas Emilio Moro celebrated to mark the end of the grape harvest, took place in a magnificent setting, where even the weather was kind enough to allow the more than 100 guests to enjoy a performance by Alonso Rancapino Chico as the perfect finale to an incomparable evening.
