The Malleolus Family From Bodegas Emilio Moro Receives Excellent Ratings From Wine Enthusiast
  • Malleolus de Valderramiro and Malleolus de Sanchomartín are reaffirmed as two extraordinary tempranillos thanks to the excellent ratings they have received.
  • The American publication, founded in 1979, is one of the most widely read magazines dedicated to the world of wine and gastronomy.

Bodegas Emilio Moro, one of the benchmarks in Ribera del Duero, continues to reap triumphs with its wines. It has a total of eleven wines on the market and on this occasion, it is two of the members of its acclaimed Malleolus Family, specifically Malleolus de Valderramiro and Malleolus de Sanchomartín, which have taken centre stage in this success.

The US wine magazine, Wine Enthusiast, has awarded excellent ratings to these two Malleolus. The ratings received by these two wines were nothing less than 98 points, which only corroborates the majesty of these wines, whose potential is infinite.

Malleolus de Valderramiro 2018 is named after the Pago de Valderramiro, one of the Moro family’s historic vineyards, planted in 1924. It is a wine that was created to give maximum prominence to the ‘terroir’, a very important element for Bodegas Emilio Moro. It is a powerful wine of a cherry red colour with garnet tinges that presents a great intensity as well as an elegant bouquet. On the palate it is balanced, full-bodied, but with sweet and friendly tannins.

In the words of the winery’s technical director, Álvaro Maestro, ‘Malleolus de Valderramiro is expressive, elegant and shows seriousness in the fruit’, a special wine that is the perfect accompaniment to good meat.

Malleolus de Sanchomartín 2018 is another of Bodegas Emilio Moro’s star tempranillos. It has won over national and international critics with its expressiveness and combination of nuances. It is one of the winery’s most sublime wines, with a cherry red colour with garnet tinges. The bouquet is rich in nuances with a great varietal character, but with the personality of the limestone soils. On the palate it is voluminous and balanced with a long and persistent finish.

‘Subtlety and elegance’ are the words with which the winery’s president, Javier Moro, defines this wine, to which he gives the seal of approval as a favourite, without hesitation.

Two very special tempranillos that win over the most demanding palates and, when they are the stars of a meeting, they hold the entire table.

In addition, anyone who wants to taste them has the opportunity to do so at the winery itself, through the ‘Journey to the Origin’ experience, its most exclusive experience, which offers the chance to learn about the origins of the Ribera del Duero winery and delve into its history through a visit to the vineyards that give their name to the two Malleolus featured in this article. A welcome drink, an aperitif at the Sanchomartín viewpoint, a visit to the winemaking area and a special menu at the restaurant with a tasting of La Revelía -another of their Godellos- and the Malleolus Family -Malleolus, Malleolus de Valderramiro and Malleolus de Sanchomartín- complete this experience.
