The Malleolus Family Continues to Succeed After Receiving Superb Ratings in Wine Enthusiast
  • Malleolus de Valderramiro and Malleolus de Sanchomartín continue their high ratings with the 2019 vintage.
  • The American publication, founded in 1979, is one of the most widely read magazines dedicated to the world of wine and gastronomy.
  • In addition to these good ratings, Clon de la Familia, the winery’s most premium wine, and Emilio Moro, its alma mater, have also received good ratings.

Bodegas Emilio Moro, one of the national and international standards in the Ribera del Duero region, continues to make a name for itself thanks to its wines. With a history of more than 100 years of winemaking tradition and 11 wines on the market, there seems to be no stopping the winery on its path to success.

The Malleolus Family, which donned a new label last November, continues to win over the most demanding palates, and on this occasion, two of the members of the famous family, Malleolus de Valderramiro and Malleolus de Sanchomartín, are the stars of the show.

The prestigious American magazine, Wine Enthusiast, with more than 40 years of history in the sector, has awarded magnificent ratings to these two Malleolus. Specifically, Malleolus de Sanchomartín 2019 received 97 points and Malleolus de Valderramiro 2019 received 98 points. Undoubtedly, these ratings only confirm the greatness of these two excellent Ribera wines, which have an infinite range.

In the words of the winery’s technical director, Álvaro Maestro, ‘the great thing about these wines is that they are totally modern wines that, without losing the essence of the historic vineyards from which they come, know how to extract the best of the land and put it in the glass’.

Malleolus de Valderramiro 2019 is the great Tinto Fino that returns with all its power, structure and great intensity. With a growth cycle characterised by low rainfall and high temperatures, this wine is made from a balanced grape of extraordinary quality.  The resulting wine has a powerful but balanced flavour that leaves a delicious aftertaste on the palate with its marked fruity character. With its distinctive garnet red colour, Malleolus de Valderramiro 2019 is the perfect accompaniment to a good roast.

Malleolus de Sanchomartín 2019 is the tempranillo wine born in Pago de Sanchomartín, located in Pesquera de Duero. A powerful, elegant and persistent wine that once again offers a balanced flavour with some fruity notes. With a pleasant passage and a long, lingering finish, this wine is the perfect accompaniment to any great celebration or special occasion.

‘These are two wines that have no limits, either in terms of quality or international prestige’, says the president of Bodegas Emilio Moro, Javier Moro, whose experience of more than 30 years as commercial director of the winery has shown him the growth experienced by these wines outside Spain.

Clon de la Familia and Emilio Moro join in the success

But these are not the only Bodegas Emilio Moro wines to receive good ratings because, for those who already know the winery, they know that all 11 of its wines bear the mark of quality and are a perfect choice at any time.

The two members of the Malleolus Family are joined by Clon de la Familia 2016, the winery’s most premium wine, which received 95 points from Wine Enthusiast, and Emilio Moro, the alma mater named after its founder, which joined the celebration with 94 points.

Clon de la Familia 2016 is, in the words of the Moro family, ‘the best wine of Ribera del Duero’. Thanks to their long experience in winemaking and the passion that Don Emilio Moro passed on to them, they pamper their product and get involved in each of the processes to offer the best. It has a deep garnet colour, a great personality and an extraordinary richness of nuances to the bouquet, highlighting the aromas typical of the great Tempranillo wines, slowly nuanced by a respectful ageing. On the palate it is fleshy, full-bodied, but with excellent balance, giving rise to a wine with a very long, persistent and pleasant finish. A powerful, elegant wine with a unique personality, made to captivate and dazzle.

Emilio Moro 2019 is the flagship of the Ribera del Duero winery. A wine appreciated and loved by wine lovers that represents the tradition and character of the terroir of Ribera del Duero. Cherry red with a ruby rim. The bouquet is complex and balanced. There is a harmonious combination of the fruity notes of Tempranillo. Mellow and medium-bodied on the palate, with sweet tannins and a long and persistent aftertaste.

Four wines and four very different personalities, but all of them will win you over. Malleolus de Valderramiro, with its character and structure; Malleolus de Sanchomartín, with its silkiness and elegance; Clon de la Familia, with its richness of nuances; and Emilio Moro for its complexity and balance. Four wines, four options that triumph wherever they go.
