Bodegas Emilio Moro presents a new vintage Finca Resalso 2022, the winery’s youngest Tempranillo. A wine forming part of the Ribera del Duero winery expansion project, which presents a striking change of image to match the Malleolus Family line.
Finca Resalso 2022 is the pure expression of Tempranillo in its youngest version, and with this new vintage it makes a great leap in quality, backed by a surprising change of image with which it joins the Malleolus Family line, made up of Malleolus, Malleolus de Valderramiro and Malleolus de Sanchomartín, which already created a sensation with their new labels last November.
Now it is the youngest wine of the Ribera del Duero winery to join this family, saying goodbye to its familiar brown label and donning a cream-coloured one with a new, more elegant typeface. Finca Resalso was the only Ribera del Duero wine from Bodegas Emilio Moro that had a totally different, very characteristic and recognisable label. This change adds to the design of the winery’s premium range, thus supporting an impressive leap in quality that everyone who tastes the wine will perceive.
Finca Resalso, named after one of the oldest vineyards, planted the year Emilio Moro was born, was first released in 1994 and did so in a groundbreaking way. It became the first young wine to incorporate barrels during its ageing period, a practice that was widely criticised.
With this disruptive spirit that characterises the Moro family, this change in the production process was proposed, making a significant leap in quality, with the aim of adapting to new consumer profiles. In this way Finca Resalso took a step forward, acquiring more relevance, but always respecting the character of the Tempranillo grape and the freshness that characterises the wine.
This new vintage offers a wine with a deep cherry red colour with a violet tinge. The bouquet is intense and fruity, dominated by the ripe black fruits typical of Tempranillo grapes. In the mouth it is silky and full-bodied, but there are subtle floral notes and milky nuances that add complexity and sweetness to the wine. Thanks to a very ripe tannin, the palate is gentle and creamy, with a very pleasant finish and a long aftertaste.
In 2022, rainfall was normal and good temperatures in spring accelerated plant development, which was slowed down by the arrival of summer, high summer temperatures and low rainfall, which lasted until after the grape harvest. These circumstances provided outstanding grape concentration and ripeness. It is, therefore, a year of full-bodied wines with aromatic heft on the palate, expressive and with great ageing potential in the upper ranges of wine.
Its most special Godello also has a new vintage: La Revelía 2020
The launch of Finca Resalso 2022 is joined by the release of La Revelía 2020, the maximum expression of the Godello varietal character: complexity, intensity and finesse within a unique personality.
La Revelía 2020 is the most subtle, suggestive and complex wine in the El Bierzo winery’s range of whites, representing the purest expression of the Godello variety with its acidity, aged on its lees in barrels, which provides body and richness. In 2020 in El Bierzo, the rains and mild summer temperatures marked a fairly rapid ripening period, with a lot of thermal oscillation between day and night, increasing the quality of the grapes to obtain a must with ideal characteristics. La Revelía 2020 was fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks and aged on its lees in French oak barrels. A wine that gains in intensity and complexity in the glass, developing notes of white flowers and dried fruits, where minerality appears in the background, bringing singularity and personality to the whole.
Bodegas Emilio Moro pursues excellence and continuous improvement in quality, and this new vintage is proof of this. The medallion continues to preside over the image of this wine, a distinctive element of Bodegas Emilio Moro, becoming more prominent and gaining finesse and elegance. In order to maintain balance and adapt to change, the piping of the medallion accompanies the capsule with the characteristic colour of Finca Resalso, a red wine that, despite its youth, surprises and captivates.
