2018 vintage
2018 was characterised by a very cold winter, with low temperatures resulting in a delay in bud break of about one week compared to the average of previous years. The spring was characterised by heavy rainfall. Flowering took place in the last week of May. The summer, cool at first, continued with higher temperatures in June and July, but without reaching excessive peaks. The large temperature fluctuations between day and night in the days leading up to the harvest favoured a slow and steady ripening of the grapes.
Production Tenuta Nuova – Casanova di Neri
Manual selection of the bunches before destemming and selection of the grapes with an optical sorter. This is followed by fermentation without added yeast and maceration with frequent punch-downs. All this is carried out in temperature-controlled steel vats for 24 days.
Tasting notes of Tenuta Nuova
Tenuta Nuova 2018 has a young and intense ruby red colour. The aroma reveals notes of ripe red fruits and an unmistakable balsamic touch. The taste is surprisingly complex: rich and delicate, enveloping and flavoursome. The fascinating and long finish bodes well for the future.
