2018 vintage
2018 was characterised by a very cold winter, with low temperatures resulting in a delay in bud break of about one week compared to the average of previous years. The spring was characterised by heavy rainfall. Flowering took place in the last week of May. The summer, cool at first, continued with higher temperatures in June and July, but without reaching excessive peaks. The large temperature fluctuations between day and night in the days leading up to the harvest favoured a slow and steady ripening of the grapes.
Production – Brunello di Montalcino White Label – Casanova di Neri
Manual selection of the bunches before destemming and selection of the grapes with an optical sorter. This is followed by spontaneous fermentation without added yeast and maceration with frequent punching down. All this is carried out in temperature-controlled steel vats for 25 days.
Tasting notes – Brunello di Montalcino
Translucent deep red. Attractive and fascinating aroma, with the freshness of the 2018 vintage coming through in full followed by notes of nutmeg and young red fruit. First contact with the palate is firm, generous and controlled. Balance reigns in the taste, where the tannic texture combines perfectly with the acidity and allows this wine to be enjoyed even in its youth.
