Latertius is the result of a delicate balance between three selected vintages, 2019, 2020 and 2021. In this wine we find a true jewel of viticulture, a sublimely elegant Tempranillo, the result of a meticulous process of selection of plots according to the climatology of each vintage.

Latertius comes from Latin and means ‘The Third’. It symbolises the mastery of combining three different vintages and a tribute to the third generation. This blend is a testimony to the vision and passion of a family. It also speaks in three tenses: the past, which brings wisdom and roots; the present, which offers innovation and passion; and the future, which promises legacy and hope. This is the exclusive wine of our members’ club, “El Lagar de Emilio Moro”.
Latertius is made from Tempranillo grapes and comes from different plots, selected according to the weather each year in order to balance the character of each vintage.
Made from a blend of three vintages. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in 500-litre barrels with an initial ageing period of between 12 and 36 months, which allows a combination of the conditions of three different vintages and a second ageing period of a minimum of eight months in French oak foudre.
A deep garnet colour, on the nose it is balanced and extraordinarily complex. In the glass, nuances acquired during its long ageing appear, balsamic and spicy, highlighting the aromatic richness of this great wine. On the palate, the balance is the star, and it is where the goodness of each vintage comes together to produce harmonious sensations with a strong personality. The aftertaste is long and persistent with a really pleasant finish.

Made with grapes from the 2019, 2020 and 2021 vintages, each of which had different characteristics. 2019 was rainy in April, but dry and warm from spring to late summer. The harvest began after a few days of rain, which benefited the grapes and yielded excellent quality. 2020 was characterised by warmer weather. There was abundant rainfall in spring and during the harvest, which did not affect the grapes, but rather gave them a greater aromatic expression. The spring of 2021 saw light temperatures and abundant rainfall and a summer with cooler temperatures that slowed down the growth cycle of the grapes. The ripening of the grapes was favoured by the scarce rainfall at the beginning of autumn.
