When you’ve been in a profession for so long, you gain experience and knowledge, but if you’re a maverick you don’t just want to do well, you aspire to excel. This is what happens at Bodegas Emilio Moro, a family winery with more than 100 years of winemaking tradition in which four generations of the Moro family have dedicated and dedicate all their efforts to producing not only good wine, but also the best quality wine.
Among its wide range of products, consisting of no more and no less than 12 wines -eight D.O. Ribera del Duero, red wines, three D.O. Bierzo white wines and a D.O. Ribera del Duero rosé wine that was launched in 2023- we can find very different wines for all tastes.
Each of them has something special, but there is one wine in particular whose name is recognisable all over the world. Malleolus. Few people have never heard of it, and those who try it instantly fall in love. It’s a wine that transcends, one in which the Moro family’s commitment to quality is palpable. This has now been endorsed by one of the world’s most prestigious wine publications, Decanter.
The English magazine, which has a history of almost 50 years, has carried out a tasting of red wines from Ribera del Duero in which Malleolus has obtained the highest rating, no less than 96 points.
Experts Diana Rollan and Beth Willard, judge and co-chair of the Decanter World Wine Awards, respectively, and David Williams, wine writer and judge, conducted the tasting.
“Our aim is to seek the highest quality in our wines,” says Bodegas Emilio Moro’s president, Javier Moro. With this score, which the Ribera del Duero winery is delighted to celebrate, they have managed to confirm that they are on the right track in this quest.
