La Felisa 2021, A Wine Steeped In Tradition And Family Legacy

We welcome the 2021 vintage of our most traditional wine, La Felisa.

  • Bodegas Emilio Moro presents a new vintage of La Felisa, the brand’s first organic, vegan and sulphite-free wine.
  • Felisa 2021 is a Tempranillo that reflects the character of Felisa Espinosa, mother of the third generation of the Moro family and the woman who inspired the creation of this wine.

Bodegas Emilio Moro has just released a new vintage of one of its most iconic red wines: La Felisa. This Ribera del Duero wine pays tribute to Felisa Espinosa, Emilio Moro’s wife and mother of the third generation of the Moro family, thus representing such important values as tradition, commitment and family legacy, through which the winery evokes the way of making wine as it was made in the past.

It is the tribute and homage to the traditional wines.  The passion, strength and tenacity of this woman are visible in La Felisa 2021, a wine that stands out for its cherry red colour, very deep and intense, with purple tones typical of its youth, despite having been aged in oak barrels. The primary aroma of red and black fruit, typical of the variety, stands out in the bouquet almost exclusively, while on the palate, it’s a distinctive wine, intense and full-bodied, with a character that leaves its mark.

The fermentation of La Felisa 2021, made from organic grapes -the brand’s first vegan wine free of added sulphites- was carried out at a controlled temperature, macerated for 15 days on its skins and subsequently matured in French oak barrels.

The weather affecting this vintage was characterised by light temperatures in spring with accumulated rainfall in April and a summer with lower than usual temperatures, which slowed down the plant’s growth cycle. At the beginning of autumn, rainfall was scarce, thus favouring the ripening of the grapes.

This tempranillo bearing a woman’s name, has all the necessary elements, thanks to its ease of pairing, to be the star of family gatherings, or to be shared with friends or partners. Proof of its excellence is the recognition obtained in the prestigious list of the American magazine Wine Spectator, the undisputed leader in the international wine sector, which awarded the 2016, 2017 and 2020 vintages with ratings of 92, 90 and 91 points respectively. The Guía Peñín, the world’s most comprehensive Spanish wine handbook, awarded the 2018 and 2019 vintages ratings of 92 and 93 points respectively.

On the occasion of the arrival of La Felisa 2021, anyone who wants to taste it can purchase it through the Bodegas Emilio Moro online shop and will receive two complimentary glasses from Felisa.
