‘The path is made by walking it,’ said Antonio Machado. And it seems that this is the philosophy adopted by Bodegas Emilio Moro, a national and international benchmark in Ribera del Duero, which, step by step, continues to make its way and continues to reap success.
April was a good month for the Ribera del Duero winery. After Javier Moro’s first year as president, having implemented a new philosophy in the company, they have shown that Bodegas Emilio Moro has benefited from the change and continues to celebrate good news.
This time the reason for celebration is the excellent ratings received for their wines by the prestigious American wine critics Jeb Dunnuck and James Suckling.
It seems that wine critic Jeb Dunnuck, who has worked for Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, has taken a liking to Familia Malleolus and Clon de la Familia. He awarded 92 points to Malleolus 2019, 95 points to Malleolus de Valderramiro 2018 and 97 points to Malleolus de Sanchomartín 2018, the winery’s magnificent trio. Clon de la Familia, the most premium wine, received 96 points.
Malleolus 2019 is an elegant wine, with great personality and a perfect balance between maturity and freshness. Malleolus de Valderramiro 2018 is intense, elegant and with the character of Tinto Fino. Malleolus de Sanchomartín 2018 is the purest reflection of the terroir. An example of elegance and subtlety that will have your palate falling in love.
‘These are two wines that have no limits either in terms of quality or in terms of international prestige,’ says Javier Moro, president of Bodegas Emilio Moro.
Clon de la Familia 2016 is, in the words of the Moro family, ‘the best wine of Ribera del Duero’. A powerful, elegant wine with a unique personality, made to captivate and dazzle.
Four unique wines that only reaffirm their greatness with these ratings and prove that their journey continues.
For his part, wine critic James Suckling, who has been involved in wine criticism for over 40 years, has joined Dunnuck in giving 94 points to Malleolus de Valderramiro 2018 and Malleolus de Sanchomartín 2018 and 90 points to a very special Tempranillo, La Felisa 2021. The only organic and vegan wine from Bodegas Emilio Moro.
La Felisa 2021 is a wine steeped in tradition and family heritage. This tempranillo pays homage to Felisa Espinosa, mother of the third generation of the Moro family and evokes the way wine was made in the old days.
He was also captivated by the charm of the Godellos: Polvorete and El Zarzal, which are part of Bodegas Emilio Moro in El Bierzo. A dream that in a few months will see the light of day in the form of its own winery. Suckling has given 92 points to Polvorete 2022 and 93 points to El Zarzal 2021. Godellos have carved out a niche for themselves and are here to stay and continue to win over palates.
