- La Felisa 2021 has been awarded Best New Wine at the Verema Awards.
- This wine is a tribute to Felisa Espinosa, mother and grandmother of the third and fourth generation, and also evokes the way that wines were made in the past.
Bodegas Emilio Moro is a benchmark in the wine sector and one of the most important wineries both nationally and internationally. During its more than 100 years of winemaking tradition, it has achieved great successes that have made it what it is today.
This has been possible thanks to the presence of one person who remained steadfast, becoming the lynchpin of the family. A standard bearer who held everyone together and instilled the importance of keeping one’s feet on the ground. She is Felisa Espinosa, ‘La Feli’, as those who know her affectionately call her. She is Emilio Moro’s wife and the mother and grandmother of the third and fourth generation that today runs Bodegas Emilio Moro.
An irreplaceable and totally indispensable figure in the company, she wins the hearts of all those who know her thanks to her self-assurance and the affection with which she addresses each and every member of the winery.
La Feli has always been and continues to be present. From the beginning, accompanying Emilio, instilling the necessary strength to press on, and taking charge of the family; and now, witnessing each of the winery’s successes, always ready to celebrate them. On every occasion, at every event or special date, she displays her friendliness and charms everyone with her wonderful smile and with that light that only she knows how to radiate.
And now, as she is about to turn 90, the wine that bears her name, La Felisa, which was born as a tribute to her dedication and devotion to the family, has been awarded Best New Wine at the Verema Awards 2023. An award that, in addition to being a prize for the wine, the winery considers a recognition of Feli’s career, for a lifetime dedicated to the world of wine with devotion, passion and strength.
It all began with her. She was the first woman at Bodegas Emilio Moro and blazed a difficult trail that many others, including her daughters Fabiola and Rubi Moro, have followed without the burden she carried. Being the first woman at the winery wasn’t easy, but it was joyful. She has been able to see her husband’s dream come true through the hands of her children and grandchildren – that is all La Feli could wish for.
