Elalba de Emilio Moro

History

Elalba de Emilio Moro was born in 2022, becoming the first rosé wine of Bodegas Emilio Moro, affirming that every new day is a fresh opportunity.

For Bodegas Emilio Moro, dawn is the period between the sun’s first light appearing on the horizon and the moment when it finally rises and heralds the new day. The red, orange and especially pink colours that form in the sky at dawn characterise this wine and give it its name.

Type of soil

Striking a balance

Coming from two varieties, two types of soils are also distinctive.

In the first instance, the soils where the Albillo variety is grown give it freshness and a longer growth cycle, helping maintain the natural acidity and the characteristic varietal aromas.

Tempranillo, on the other hand, is grown in warmer soils, with limited fertility, where ripening is slightly earlier, achieving good fruit potential and limiting the vegetal notes.

Process

The art of winemaking

It is made from Tempranillo and Albillo Mayor grapes, two historic varieties in Ribera del Duero that are harvested on the same day and processed together from the very first moment. The first portion of the must obtained by pressing is selected and fermented at a temperature of around 18ºC for 15 days.

Video tasting

In the winter of 2023, the rains were generous, affecting soil water reserves, but the cycle started without the typical spring rains and lasted until June. Temperatures were higher than expected and resulted in full ripening of the fruit. Just before the harvest there were generous storms that modulated the cycle and balanced the concentration.
